Kylie Jane Smith, born in Timaru 1973.
Kylie Smith is an established New Zealand landscape painter, who has been painting successfully for 15 years.

She studied painting throughout Secondary School and Polytechnic gaining excellent grades and winning many art prizes. In 1995 she travelled through Europe to explore other subject matter and an opportunity to work with local artists, which was invaluable.

Being originally from South Canterbury, Kylie has been inspired to capture the surrounding beauty of the mountains, lakes and the rolling down lands. Her work consists of mostly textured colourful landscapes, which capture mood and a real life feel to her art. The textured surface is to simulate what it is like to feel or stand on when you are there. Kylie is giving you back a mirror of how she sees vibrant colour and depth to a landscape. .

In the last five years Kylie has moved to Auckland to spend more time painting and showing a lot more art publicly. Her other career consists of working full-time as QA/QC Technician working in a laboratory for a large manufacturing company. In the next few years, she is hoping to dedicate more of her time to becoming a full-time artist, as this has been a long love of hers.

Her preferred paintings are detailed textured landscapes using various polyester resins, epoxy composite mix, fibreglass and tinted emulsions on canvas or wide edged boards.

Kylie’s paintings have been exhibited in the following galleries and establishments:

Parnell Gallery – Auckland
Art Of This World – Auckland
Argantighe Art Gallery – Timaru
